Any player who is under contract for 2017 may be extended, players in final year of contract need to be extended before opening day or they will become a free agent at the end of the year. Each player may only be extended once. Players who are in pre-arbitration (years zero-three in service time) may not be extended. Every team may extended no more than 3 players per year. We will be using a scale based on ESPN rankings (2016 Player Rating Rankings) for the extensions. The scale is as follows:
Scale for Extensions:
1-5= $6M Added
6-15= $5M Added
16-25= $4M Added
26-50= $3M Added
51-100= $2M Added
101-200= $1M Added
201- 300= $.5M Added
301+= $.3M Added
To extend a player, if in arbitration years, add their extension bonus(based on the scale) to their current salary for this year. The extension will be take effect the year after. You can extend a player up to 6 years. Each year you will increase by the amount each year based on the Extension Scale.
To extend a player, if in a guaranteed contract, add their extension bonus(based on the scale) to the final year salary for their current contract. The extension will be take effect at the end of current contract. Option years are replaced by new extension. You can extend a player up to 6 years. Each year you will increase each year by the amount based on the Extension Scale.
An extension may also include a club option as the final year rather than a guaranteed contract. The buyout for the option year will always be 25% of that years salary.
All Extensions must be posted and approved by a League Manager. Once approved, the contract of the player will be updated on the master roster.
Extensions are based off guaranteed contract years you cannot extend using a option figure.
Extensions run for the start of the offseason till Midnight 31st July.
